Today is Cow Appreciation Day. If you're dressed as a cow, you get a free combo meal (there's a starter kit if you're really interested), and if you have a cow accessory, like one of their hats, you get a free entrée. For more costume ideas, see the Kidding Around video from last year's celebration.

Today, 6th of July,we are celebrating National Fried Chicken Day, and that's something we know a thing or two about around here.So where the heck are you going on Nat'l Fried Chicken Day?Are you going to a picnic with a fried chicken on your baskets? To the beach with a bucket of chicken legs?Wherever you prefer as long as you have chicken you'll really make the best out of National Chicken Day.
what do you think of this comic?
Where can I buy the best fried chicken ever?On National Chickens day I'd want to eat at KFC they have the best tasting chicken joy?! Whoops! was that Jolibee?Hehe. But, among all of the chicken meal stations I've been "Banoks" is one of the best.Hehe.
For those of you interested in knowing how fried chicken came to be, it is said that it was introduced into the American South by Scottish immigrants who came to this country (www.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fried_chicken). When African slaves began cooking in homes they began to add unusual seasonings and spices that had not been a part of the Scottish tradition. These new seasonings combined with the Scottish frying technique were a hit and fried chicken, as we know it today, became a popular dish to serve for meals.
Since slaves were often allowed to keep chickens, frying chicken on special occasions spread through the African American community. As the years progressed, fried chicken continued to grow in popularity. It is commonly known as Southern fried chicken because of the style of cooking and it is considered an African-American food specialty (http://www.slavefood.info/2007/04/not-yo-mamas-fried-chicken.html).

Tony Stewart won the Coke Zero 400 auto race at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach Saturday, July 4, 2009. On Lap 158 of the Coke Zero 400 auto race he had a real disastrous match with Busch and in an interview he said "'I don't know if I was real proud of that, but I don't know what else I could do,'' said Stewart, who won the race from the pole. ``I went where I had to go, he went where he had to go. He helped me the whole race, so you hate to see him get wrecked like that.
``He went to block us and we were already there. That doesn't mean you like it. You don't want to see him wreck, want him to finish good. But we weren't going to give it to him. If I did something wrong, I'm sorry. That's not the way you want to win these things.''for more read http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/story/1127849.html
Whatever happened the thing is he's shelling out some champagne or should I say "Coke Zero" for he just won the Coke Zero 400 auto race 2009!

Metro Manila,Philippines-A killer quake is threatening the lives of many amidst the issues that plagued the nation recently. If Influenza Type A(h1n1) has already killed one, infected 445 as of this day and still 22.5 million more filipino's at risk;Con Ass & Right To Reply are probable of suppressing freedom, heinous crimes are still on the loose -Now, nature strikes back with vengeance in the form of a killer quake.
Earlier, United Nation's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs'Arjun Katoch said that an earthquake of most likely 7.8 or higher magnitude is slated to hit Metro Manila this year. The prediction was bolstered by the fact that it has a scientific basis. It was actually based on a study conducted by Earthquakes and Megacities Initiative last 2004.
"It's not that we're scaring the hell out of many Filipino's and make them panic and all -but you can't always rely on the saying Prevention is Better Than Cure by the time nature will declare war.Of course, it is very obvious that quakes can't be prevented. So therefore we must be ready in this kind of damnation. We are sounding alarm the bells upon telling everyone esp in Metro Manila to prepare.Coordinate with government officials by the time you'll notice signs of quakes.Be wary,be smart.I'd like to ask the government if they have the capacity or were they able to prepare for this kind of event we hope not to come.Reality Check! Is there a place safety enough to protect people away from falling debris?I mean we're not always in a place like a football field or anything? Most people in the urban stays on buildings than elsewhere" -said tediber.
This news came out in Inquirer to warn the people.According to the report. . .
Are the buildings safe enough for everyone not to worry about? Is it strong enough to stand a magnitude of most probably 8.5?We hope the government will move before anything else happens.Nobody knows when, what time will it happen. If nobody moves a muscle -“You gonna have 16,000 buildings destroyed. You gonna have …150,000 who are injured,” said Kartoch,.Or even worse -Dead.Again, we don't mean anything for the public to panic!Alongside with the news brought to us by Inquirer,We are not threatening -we're just informing.

During Tuesday’s taping of the BBC show, “World Debate,” hosted by Nik Gowing at the Centre International de Conférences de Genève here, Kartoch provided a picture of magnitude of the tragedy. On the infrastructure side, buildings (hospitals, schools, establishments) and residential houses would collapse, he said, apparently simulating the impact of the quake based on urban congestion, population and buildings’ quake resistance.

"Dream of my life, my living and burning desireAll hail! -Cries the soul that is now to take flight,All hail! And sweet it is for thee to expire; To die for thy sake that thou mays't aspire; And sleep in thy bosom eternity's long night."
-Jose P. Rizal
When the first Philippine Republic was proclaimed, its constitution provided for a representative democracy. The Philippine declaration of Independence borrowed even the language of the American charter of Liberty.Under America, Philippine Independence was proclaimed on July 4 1946.It's annual observance was later changed to June 12 to coincide with the proclamation of Philippine Independence Day by General Emilio Aguinaldo in Kawit, Cavite. And since then, we celebrate Philippine Independence every twelfth of July.
Philippine nationalism hasn't just been a struggle against Spanish,Americans and Japanese colonialism but with some of our very own lawmakers who has once again awakened the nationalistic spirit in the hearts of every Filipino through their selfishness and cupidity in line with the volcanic issue "CON-ASS".Philippines is threatened by a bill that would eventually turn what our heroes were fighting for in to gray -PEACE! LIBERTY! FREEDOM! DEMOCRACY and finally SUCCESS.So let us all be the best modern Katipuneros we can be -Say No to Con-ass! In the midst of our celebration let us not be blind;

Tomorrow, June 8, 2009 is supposed to be the opening of classes for most of the Colleges and Universities Nationwide but Dr. Emmanuel Angeles, chair of the Commission on Higher education (CHed), announced the postponement on Saturday, saying the delay will give time for students who traveled abroad to do self-quarantine against the Influenza A (H1N1) virus. It's good to hear this news! right? Let's rejoice College students or maybe not? I think a week isn't enough to fill my summer itinerary.I demand for more weeks of extension! (haha.just kidding).I'm a student of the University of Southeastern Philippines, here in Davao but it was said that our school isn't linked with CHED.I mean, they said we are under PASUC and all.But recently I received a text message saying our University President moved the opening of classes to June 15,2009.So if we're studying in the same University -please convey to others. And if not! watch out for further memos and I suggest you to look forward for a postponement.Ahaha.
As of now, Philippines has 33 confirmed H1N1 cases and FYI it's the highest in South-East Asia.
Though our University is under PASUC or whatever it is . . .Angeles ordered the postponement of classes through a memorandum dated June 5. It is addressed to heads of private and public higher education institutions, state universities and colleges, local city colleges and regional directors of CHEd.See the one in bold? Yes! we belong in a state U and so be it.*laughs*

People of the Philippines -WAKE UP!
Come to think of it, Throughout the history of Philippine election was there ever an election that passed where everyone was satisfied?Aren't you sick of the band-aid solutions the current leaders have for us?Then if so-WAKE UP! Don't you think it's about time to prove your worth? our might? We're exactly a year before the election comes and now is the perfect time to open our minds.Yeah I'm aware that the mentality of people has been blinded by poverty and all that stuff but until when?Where does the lunatic cycle goes? the answer- around and around.
During Campaign period, you can see that these candidates are knocking for our votes, leaving us with such promises saying "We are about to experience change".Now think, there are only few of them and there are many of us.If you think they can make change then how massive can that be?Please always bear in mind that we are responsible for our own future and for every little action we make can already create a change-which determines the fate of our country.Let us all begin the would be change by putting the greatest caution upon choosing the leader and that must start in ourselves.Be wise! Be Censorious! Always keep an eye on these loudmouthed, big tummy alligators knocking our conscience with vague and ill-defined promises for our vote.WEIGH THEM -RATE THEM-THEN VOTE THEM! not because of their colorfully dramatic campaigns and advertises but on what they've done and contributed while they're sitting on their terms. If you think they're deserving because of you believe that their contributions to the community will grow up on existence for the years to come-then so shall be it.
Teens of the Philippines -WAKE UP!

Before putting this into an end- Some people needs to be awaken too! 2010 electoral candidates -WAKE UP! Now prepare for my sermon.Despite the fact that there are still those few deserving candidates we can't ignore the firm fact that people thinks anyone in a position to be the twin of the word corruption. If you don't want them to think you're one of those greedy alligators with conceited ideologies then prove it.You keep talking about us! our goodness! our sake! When will you shut up and move?
If you're concerned please speak your mind in the comments section below.Tell us more-tell us what you want for the future.Tell us that you can make a change.

The first day of May and we are celebrating LABOR DAY.What a day, I've been quite in touch with our Television and I've been hearing these Job Fairs for everybody.Various groups allover Philippines has been organizing Job Fairs for the unemployed and newly graduated students or for those who are interested and I think it's the best way to answer the problems on unemployment.Dubbed as "Labor Day Tayo Na! Trabaho Na! Jobapalooza 09" the Department of Labor and Employment in cooperation with some of Philippines largest companies they were able to make May 1st history.May 1 2009 Job Fair is expected to be the biggest local and overseas job fair in the Philippines.
Most of the newly graduated students in College are seeking for job opportunities starting today on selected areas on their respected places.Well for me taking your ass in a Job Fair is hell one dynamic way of spending your summer.Simply because I hate long winding lines and I so hate to see a crowd of more like, thousands.Well a friend told me Patience is a virtue and I've proven that the time I finished wandering the corridors of our school in search for teachers to sign my clearance. It took me about 2 weeks to finish since I'm required of so much "this and thats" which arguably gets into my nerves, digging in my flesh and all that you can imagine of.Duh!Whatever I'm out of the topic. So, start counting down the days of May until you can finally find a job at any Job Fairs around the malls and public places in the Philippines okay? But if you hate crowd, long lines of people, the smelly odor of the crowd and all that stuff then you must be looking for an online job as far as you were reading this. And by this point I haven't introduce to you an online job yet, have I?But before anything else let's get in to this preparation thingy -and let's start it by asking you the question "ARE YOU READY?"
Now prepare a well-written resume detailing any past work experience, you're skills and the merits and awards you have received. Then the next thing to do is very obvious -search for online jobs on the net.Create an account, submit a resume and wait for an email confirmation. Grand Beauty Face Off!
Last Sunday Kristen Dalton from North Carolina was crowned Miss USA 2009 at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The pageant was televised and aired live by NBC.Of the 50 beauty queens coming from different states and districts only Kristen has made it to compete for Miss Universe. While six Sundays before the US Pageant was another pageant from the east.Philippines,Pamela Bianca Manalo was crowned as Miss Philippines-Universe during a Miss Philippines 2009 coronation night at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon city, metro Manila on March 8, 2009.They're both 22 years old and both of them will compete for the title Miss Universe 2009 this coming August 23, 2009 at Atlantis Paradise Island, Nassau, Bahamas. The coming Pageant will be aired live on NBC and Telemundo. It's not just the two of them who'll compete for the crown and the title, there are more than 80 countries around the world expected to show off their 'very bests' to win. Each contestant will be judged in three categories first is the swimsuit, then evening gown and interview as they vie for the coveted title of Miss Universe 2009.
According to one of my sources it was predicted by four french necromancers that Miss Universe 2009 will be bombarded by intrigues, rumors and scandals. These group of necromancers were psychics studying in University of Paris. According to them, they predicted some unusual yet became headline events like the death of Heath Ledger, election of Barack Obama as first black president of USA; and other concerning pageants like Miss USA 2007 and 2008 slipped during MU coronation night, the deaths three beauty queens, and Miss World 2008 will be Russia. Today, another revelation came and they foresaw the upcoming Miss Universe 2009.
The prediction includes the winners as what these four acclaimed psychics collectively foresaw together and below is the summary of what's gonna happen (according to them).
Well let's fuss over the "Beauty Slipping" thingy, it's really intriguing but I'm forced to believe those stage slipping moments were planned.Well it certainly can make anyone popular! just like the above mentioned Miss USA 2007 and Miss USA 2008 because it actually garnered them popularity in YouTube. In that sense! it makes sense at all.haha.
Now, you see those two Beauties above? These two beautiful young ladies are set to make history in the annual Miss Universe Pageant. Now, notwithstanding the other contestants who do you think will reign of the two of them?Miss Philippines or Miss USA?

Holy Week started last Sunday with an Early Morning Mass celebrating Palm Sunday. It was a bona fide Sunday morning for me since I have more than enough fun last Saturday because we celebrated the feast of our Patron Saint Sr.San Vicente Ferrer. And inline to that is the last event of the feast -live band.I didn't manage to get myself on any Catholic Churches nearby to attend the Mass that Sunday. And I've been such a dozer of not wanting to for very obvious reasons -I'm tired. Then came late at night when I turned on the Television and there's really something almost all shows and channels has in common. How to celebrate Holy Week?Where to Celebrate and almost all of the documentary shows covers stories of Miracles. Why do I even wonder? It's Holy Season! right?
Philippines known to be the only Christian country in Asia has a lot of customs, traditions and beliefs to be talked about especially this Lenten season. And one of the most catchy thing to be talked about this season are about MIRACLES.Miracle is something bizarre but beneficial.Miracle has substantially different definitions that may depend on people's culture, religion and beliefs.Though people witnessing this kind of divine intervention would say it's something Godly that they just have to believe it.Why not?I never witnessed one personally but I'm looking forward to the day I can oppose to what Nora Aunor said on her award-winning movie "HIMALA"(Miracle) and that is "MAYROONG HIMALA!".
Philippines is blessed with such traditions and beliefs about Miracles. And reported issues about Miracles in the Philippines contributes a wide scale on the country's tourism. There are such places, things and of course events that people abroad will personally come to behold of.But what I liked most are the stories of Animals miraculously has saved their owners.I once spotted a TV series entitled Animal Miracles with Alan Thicke in a particular channel which I can't remember.I was astound of how two birds saved their house from burning and their owners as well. While here in the Philippines one of the most notable miraculous event engaging animals was even reported that dolphins saved Palawan Fisherman a year ago. There's really nothing wrong of believing on miracles -coz they do exist. Why did I say so? Remember that every time we can smell the balmy air of the morning, wake up to see the rising sun is indeed a - MIRACLE.
Let's hop to the Traditional Way of celebrating Holy Week. From Palm Sunday up to Black Saturday is a series of praying, penitence and other emotional yet spiritual happenings. But not with Easter Sunday as is it commemorates the last week of the earthly life of Jesus Christ which culminated on his crucifixion. In the middle of the holy week there's a notable event that changed the lives and points of view of the Filipinos and that is "Penitence".There are various types of penitence and one remarkable way of being flawless is "Crucifixion".Yes! Some people crucifixes themselves on cross just like what Jesus did to save us.Before the crucifixion they are to go under serious briefing with the Catholic authorities. And prior to that also is the passion of the cross.Mass Retreats were being done since Holy week started it's the best and effective way to cleanse ones soul and to reflect.
With a touch of modernization today's Holy Week has been of almost Summer fun and outdoor activities.Don't worry I am a hundred percent sure that you'll totally have fun after this or during Easter.Easter is the resurrection of Jesus right? And it has been a tradition for us Filipinos to participate in an EGG HUNTING event by Easter. So, Let us not forget what Lent is for. Let us not forget to spot the difference between Holy Week and Summer.Celebrate Holy Week in a happy but respectful way -for tomorrow comes another MIRACLE.

The goddamn virus author is launching, of course, another computer virus which has already infected millions of computer running Microsoft Windows. If you think it's just an April Fools joke! allow me to knock you off.Apparently, it can plunge into your computer system's codes which means it can gain access on your security updates, delete your files, steal your personal information, remotely attack or block sites and of course make your computer hang for like centuries. In fact, CBS reported that it had a recent fight with this virus which took them 10 days to find and isolate. For over a decade of it's wide range of wreaking havoc in the tech world it has never failed though an international group of computer security experts have come together to try and stop this chaos, and they have not had any luck so far.And since the thing had started a decade ago, we should expect that the worm virus had evolved and that it's something to be aware of.
Can this Virus bring Goodness?
As we all know virus are made to spice up our lives online? And if theres any possible goodness a virus may happen to bring it's either "it can hide your folders you don't want your mom to see because you've got a porno file inside" or "make anti-virus authors earn".Well, it's good to hear that Microsoft Corporation will implement a coordinated, global response to the Conficker (aka Downadup) worm in partnership with technology industry leaders. And what's even better is that they're offering a bounty of $250,000 out for anyone that can decipher who are behind all of these.A reward money!!!yikes.Sounds great?right?

How can I tell if my computer's infected?
One quick way to see if your computer has been infected is to see if you have gotten automatic updates from Windows in March. If so, your computer likely is fine, DeBolt said.
Microsoft released a statement saying the company "is actively working with the industry to mitigate the spread of the worm."
Users who haven't gotten the latest Windows updates should go to http://safety.live.com if they fear they're infected, the company's statement says.
People who use other antivirus software should check to make sure they've received the latest updates, which also could have been disabled by Conficker C.
PS: if you happen to wonder about the image above?HAHA-that's for fools!! of April - :P

Even rival media companies of the Philippines supports Earth Hour!
So let's turn off our lights for just an hour tonight at exactly 8:30 pm up to 9:30.
(And your TV's too! haha)
(And your TV's too! haha)
To conserve energy and to preserve our mother earth.
Watch your kapamilya and kapuso stars as they promote "EARTH HOUR".

More than 81 countries are expected to take part in this phenomenal endeavor. So can you!!! simply turn off your lights! Anyways, you don't have a choice if you live here in Davao, because it was allegedly reported (and I heard it myself) that the electricity of Davao City will be turned off for an hour in celebration to EARTH HOUR 2009.
While surfing the official site of Earth Hour, I chanced upon an article en "World Organisation for the Scout Movement Supports Earth Hour 2009".Didn't know that-until now.Haha, I was a Rover Scout -apply the motto "Once a scout always a scout"- guess, I'm still a scout, up to now-and maybe perhaps forever if you suppose.I'm not that active now, but I'm more than willing to extend my presence whenever they needed me.And knowing that they're supporting Earth Hour -another point of why I should.
I draft posted this post since it's already 8:30 of Last Saturday.I was expecting for the said brownout.Well, it's not that I'm totally in favor of the forced turning off of lights because it's supposed to be voluntary.Though the expectation was there and all.And I'm glad to say there was none.No Brownout Davao!!!.But then again I'm sad.My parents did not mind turning off the lights -though I've tried to convinced them- well they're very reasonable of not doing such since we've got a baby in our house,it's not compulsory and the neighbors didn't mind either.Aside from the three are much more complicated personal reasons which were right after all.But I just have to celebrate Earth HOUR in my own special way.And I just did- Coincidentally, I was called by Mother Nature to (you know?) get that waste out of myself. Before I entered the bathroom the light was on.And as expected I turned it off even if it would seem like I was eaten alive by perpetual darkness. That's my very special way of restoring Mother Earth.Funny! right?
EARTH HOUR UPDATE (Mar.30,2009)
After celebrating Earth Hour without, of course, light last Saturday comes a New World Title for Philippines.Of my earth years of existence in this very country of ours, I suppose this is the very first time for the whole Philippines to celebrate Earth Hour.Especially that such promotions were aired on the Philippine television (see the videos above). And knowing that we Filipinos celebrated it with heartfelt sincerity comes something we should be proud of.Over the years of celebrating such phenomenal event worldwide, Philippines has the most number of communities to celebrate Earth Hour.Hurray!! Philippines ..-it's not just Manny who's embossing us in the map of the world- WE FILIPINOS are in particular through this very special earthly event.I never thought Philippines would own the title since the idea originated at Australia. But!!Whew! I'm speechless( needless to say I run out of words-haha); So to end this stuff, let me just say this to you . . .
"I dare other countries to prove their worth.I dare them to steal the title (as if we'll let you do that at ease) .Let this not be a competition between races; instead be the start of saving our Mother Earth.Mere Mortals! join tediber in promoting EARTH HOUR, for next year and the years to come."
